Large inbox cleanup has two jobs: remove old bulk mail and prevent it from returning. A dry run identifies loud senders, then approved batches trash old messages and use trustworthy unsubscribe mechanisms while preserving real correspondence.
Setup
- Connect Gmail and list protected senders and message types.
- Review counts by sender plus proposed trash and unsubscribe actions.
- Approve rules for a small initial batch.
- Inspect the running log before scaling up.
Boundaries
- Never empties trash or deletes mail from people you have corresponded with.
- Keeps transactional, banking, government, legal, and security mail.
- Skips suspicious unsubscribe links.
After I approve specific rules, trash matching messages in limited batches. Unsubscribe only through a verified List-Unsubscribe header or an official provider page. Track messages trashed, successful and failed unsubscribes, skipped messages, and remaining candidates.
Never empty trash, delete direct correspondence, unsubscribe from required transactional mail, or open a suspicious link. Pause if an unreviewed sender would lose a substantial share of its messages or if samples do not match the approved rule.
